Pokemon Go is all about catching Pokemon. But you don’t want any Pokemon, I mean what kind of a trainer are you if you just have a bunch of Weedles and Pidgeys? You want the rare ones, you want to find the ones that will make your friends jealous. So, here’s as much help as we can give you on where to find rare Pokemon in Pokemon Go.
Unfortunately, there’s no single answer for this. You see, it’s kind of random, with Pokemon spawning all around the world. What matters most is your physical location. If you’re in a heavily populated area, like a city, you should be flooded with Pokemon, and then it’s just a matter of being constantly vigilant in order to find the rare ones.
Walking and traveling around is the biggest and best tip for finding rare Pokemon in Pokemon Go. Try to visit different areas, not only in terms of population and geographic location, but also in their environment. If you want to catch a water Pokemon then you will have a better chance at doing that near some water, like at the beach.
If you’re more rural, or just having trouble finding Pokemon in general then be sure to watch for rustling leaves. These should signify that a Pokemon is nearby that spot. Head there and see what shows up, and it may be a rare ones.
You can also see what types of Pokemon are near your current location by tapping on the option in the bottom left of the map screen. This will show a list of nearby Pokemon, with the footsteps beneath them indicating how far away they are. Use this to try to locate the Pokemon you want to catch.
Finally, if you’re really desperate to catch some rare Pokemon you can dip into the items. Incense is the key here. This item will spawn random Pokemon at your location for a limited time. If you see a rare Pokemon near you, or just don’t feel like going for a walk/drive, use some incense and you might get lucky. Otherwise check out this guide for a little trick.
HERE is that Guide as promised
Pokemon Go Guide: When to Use Stardust to Power Up your Pokemon
Pokemon Go has been out for a while now, so you might have a decent stable of powerful Pokemon. You also might have a massive war chest of Stardust, if not then check out this guide (Below in Blue) on how to get more of the precious Pokemon empowering material. Done? Good, so now that you have all the Stardust you could ever want or need (but not really), you might be asking yourself when to use Stardust in Pokemon Go. We’ll help you out…Here is that guide:
Pokemon Go just released and it seems like everyone is playing it right now, as it finally give you the opportunity to travel in the real world and capture virtual Pokemon. There are a number of different items that you can collect in the game, and one very important one is Stardust. Stardust is used to help try and make your Pokemon stronger, so you’re obviously going to need a lot in the game. Like we told you about with Candy, the game doesn’t exactly spell out how to get more Stardust, so we’re here to tell you just how.
The first way to get Stardust is to simply keep catching Pokemon. Along with the specific Pokemon Candy you receive for catching, you get the use with anyone Stardust. However, unlike Candy, you do not get any for transferring a Pokemon back to Professor Willow.
There is another way you can earn Stardust as well, which likely will require Stardust as well. If you take over a gym and can stay there each day, you will get rewards, such as coins and also Stardust. So you’re going to need Stardust to strengthen your Pokemon to then be good enough to hold a gym for you.
This is definitely a case of just keep grinding and either finding more Pokemon or strengthening your existing ones and you’ll rack up plenty of Stardust in no time.
So the important thing to remember with Stardust is that you can’t buy the stuff. Getting more of it, as the above guide points out, can be pretty tough and grindy. So the key to understanding when to use Stardust in Pokemon Go is to figure out which Pokemon are worth the investment.
Even if you have 100,000, 200,000 or more Stardust stocked up, it will go fast once you start powering up your higher CP Pokemon - see here (Subscribe to get your FREE 118 page Pokemon Strategy Guide) for when to evolve or power up, and here (Subscribe to get your FREE 118 page Pokemon Strategy Guide) for what CP is in Pokemon Go). Once you have a higher CP Pokemon, you might think that now is the time to use your Stardust, but you’d be wrong. Terribly, terribly wrong.
You see, your Pokemon’s max CP will continue to grow as you level up. A Pokemon that seems high level early in the game will become garbage later on. And if you start investing Stardust in it, you might find that you feel cheated a bit. Up to level 30 your Pokemon will continue to grow and become more powerful, at least the ones you catch will. Personally, unless you are looking to hit gyms and hit them hard, I would recommend holding all of your Stardust until you are at least at level 20 or above.
Once you are ready, you still have some work to do. If you really want that perfect Gyarados then you will need to check their IVs. What are those and how do you find them? Check out this guide (Subscribe to get your FREE 118 page Pokemon Strategy Guide). Once you find a Pokemon with high CP, high IV ratings, and you are already at a high level yourself you should be ready to use your Stardust in Pokemon Go.
Just keep in mind that with each level you go up, your Pokemon’s max CP will raise by two power ups. This means that even your maxed out CP Pokemon will still cost you some Stardust, if you start investing in them too early. Still, you’ve got the Stardust, so you might as well use it at some point. Don’t wait forever, just wait long enough that you won’t end up transferring a Pokemon that you put thousands of Stardust into.
FREE Pokemon Go Coins, Balls & Incense
Pokémon GO may be a free game, but we all know how that goes by this point. Pokémon GO, like most free-to-play games, uses various premium items to entice you into spending real world money to accelerate your ingame progress — in this case, it all revolves around PokéCoins, the premium currency that you can use to buy Egg Incubators, Lucky Eggs, Lure Modules, Bag Upgrades and the works. Most of the time, if you want PokéCoins, you’re going to have to pay for them, and they can really accelerate things if you do. There is, however, one known method for getting free PokéCoins.
The gym system is one of the most problematic features of this new game, but that’s where you’re going to have to go to get your free PokéCoins. You can station your Pokémon at a gym if you either train at a friendly gym long enough to increase its level and thus its Pokémon capacity, or if you knock an enemy gym down and put your own champion on the now empty gym. Just getting one Pokémon out at a gym is something of an accomplishment in this wildly popular game, but if you want, you can travel around and try to get as many of your little creatures sitting on gyms as possible.

That’s where the free PokéCoins come in. If you go to your “shop” page, there’s a little icon in the upper right hand corner that will give you a PokéCoin and Stardust bonus for every Pokémon you have defending a gym, as well as every day that Pokémon has successfully defended the gym. You can only collect this bonus once every 20 hours, so you’ll want to do one of two things. You can either try to get as many Pokémon as you possibly can out at gyms before collecting, or you’ll want to snag it as soon as you put one down because you know it won’t be there for very long. I’ve been leaning towards the latter.
Note: A Google search for “free PokeCoins” will pull up plenty of fakes, but this, to my knowledge, is the only legitimate stream of free PokéCoins in the game.
